Big Bang Last Dance v. 2NE1 Goodbye
Recently, Big Bang released M.A.D.E. the full album which could possibly be their last release as a group. At the same time, they dropped two new singles, one of which is 'Last Dance'. It is a pop-rock ballad paired with a dramatic, dark-toned music video. The lyrics, written by members G-Dragon, T.O.P and Taeyang, reflect on Big Bang's career and the times that they spent together. "The memories of that time still feel like a dream to me." After 10 years as a group, the members are reaching the age where they need to complete a mandatory military service, so it's uncertain when or whether Big Bang will reunite.
In the past, I mentioned how Big Bang and 2NE1 parallel each other in many ways. 2NE1's latest song shows that.
After disbanding in November 2016, group members CL, Dara and Bom came together to release one last single, Minzy wasn't a part of it because she left the group in April. 'Goodbye' is a sorrowful farewell that was written by group leader, CL. It has an acoustic guitar instrumental, and like Big Bang's 'Last Dance', it has a music video with dark visuals.
Both 'Last Dance' and 'Goodbye' are farewell songs, but maybe it is only a temporary goodbye? Big Bang 'Last Dance' - "I will sing this song and return to you" 2NE1 'Goodbye' - "Goodbye until that day we meet again".
